Professor Gutiérrez Vázquez was a full-time researcher and Professor at the Institute of Geography of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), of which she was its Director twice, from 1971 to 1977 and from 1983 to 1989. IGU mourns the loss of former President Anne Buttimer
