More than 3000 Geographers from all over Latin America gathered recently in Sao Paulo, Brazil, for the XIII Annual Congress of ANPEGE (Associaçao Nacional de Pósgraduaçao e Pesquisa em Geografia) under the theme BRAZILIAN GEOGRAPHY IN THE WORLD SCIENCE: PRODUCTION, CIRCULATION AND APPROPRIATION OF KNOWLEDGE  IGU Vice-President Professor Rubén C. Lois-González (seen here fourth from left) was a guest at the opening ceremony.  Brazil has recently committed to rejoining the IGU community and this will no doubt strengthen international linkages for Geographers across Latin America and beyond.
