Dear IGU Colleagues
The IGU is delighted to note that our President, Professor Michael Meadows has been awarded a Fellowship by the Geographical Society of China (GSC) in recognition of his outstanding support for the Society and for Chinese geography.
The Fellowship recognizes Professor Meadows’ constant support for the GSC, as well as his valuable work on guiding the improved international influence of Chinese geography. In particular, the GSC notes its gratitude for practical advice and generous help with the 33rd International Geographical Congress, hosted by the Society in 2016.
The GSC fellowship was established in 2020 and the Society co-opts fellow members once every other year. This year marks the first year that GSC fellowships were conferred to foreign scientists.
The Fellowship will be formally presented at a GSC Fellowship Conferment Ceremony the place and time of which have yet to be confirmed.
