Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce that the International Geographical Union (IGU)Thematic Conference on “Islands in Relations: Conflicts, Sustainability, and Peace” will be held at Osaka Metropolitan University, Osaka, Japan, from April 4th to 6th, 2023. The Conference will be organized in a hybrid format (a combination of in-person and virtual sessions) with the online broadcasting of keynote speeches.

We anticipate having approximately 25 (mostly in-person) sessions and 100 papers for the three-day Conference. The Call for Sessions is open till August 15th, 2022, and the Call for Abstract will be open between September 1st and October 15th.A tentative program will be announced in early January 2023.The Conference website at https://polgeog.jp/igu-tc2023/ gives you the updated and detailed information.

We will also actively collaborate with the IGU Thematic Conference on the Ocean and Seas in Geographical Thought held in Milan, Italy, in June 2023 so that these two conferences can provide a more significant and comprehensive forum on islands and the ocean.
