Dear IGU Colleagues
First of all, I would like to thank the voters for their very high turnout in this election, which demonstrates the vitality of our community. I would also like to thank the election committee chaired by Prof. Mike Meadows, alongside Joos D., vice-chair, and Antoine Le Blanc, technical officer. The innovative voting process, using anonymous electronic voting via Balotilo, also worked perfectly. 49 National Committees cast their vote, which represents an 98% turnout of eligible countries.

This means that Barbaros Gönençgil is confirmed re-elected as Secretary-General, and Maria Paradiso and Phil McManus are re-elected – all for four years. The EC will be joined for the period 2026-30 by Monica Ştefania Dumitraşcu and Takashi Yamazaki. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the unsuccessful candidate, and please rest assured that the IGU will continue to work closely with the Chinese National Committee.
