The position will complement existing research strengths focused around themes of environmental governance and sustainability in the areas of urban water, waste and recycling, corporate environmental and sustainability management, and regional dimensions of the transition to a low carbon economy.
Applications are invited from candidates with expertise in geographies of environment and development, whose research interests include social, environmental and economic aspects of urbanisation, and who engage with contemporary debates in human geography.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in human geography or a related field and a background in geographies of development and socio-environmental change. S/he will have a track record of, or potential for, excellence in publication and research funding, and show a demonstrated commitment to teaching and higher degree by research (HDR) supervision excellence.
You will lead and promote the discipline of human geography within the Arts Faculty and contribute to the wider geography teaching program, which includes an undergraduate major and a large and growing Master of Environmental Management and Sustainability (MEMS). You will have an ability both to lead and actively teach into the International Development and Environmental Management stream of the MEMS, with a focus on innovative curriculum development involving internships and industry engagement in Australia and abroad. Supervision of postgraduate research in this program, as well as in HDR, will also be expected.
