We are pleased to announce that the hashtag IGU Commission of Mountain Studies and the Commission on Biogeography and Biodiversity are jointly organizing an online seminar to celebrate International Mountain Day2025!
This year’s theme, “Glaciers matter for water, food and livelihoods in mountains and beyond,” highlights the essential role glaciers play in the climate system, the water cycle, and the sustainability of mountain communities.
In our seminar, we will explore this theme from multiple perspectives and emphasize the broader significance of mountains for our planet.
