The increasing nationalisation of global problem constellations in current world politics shows us how important the programme of the 2016 International Year of Global Understanding (IYGU) still is. The need for appropriate geographical imagination and praxis is growing, as is the relevance of geography as a genuinely transdisciplinary scientific undertaking.
Professor Michael Meadows is speaking in his capacity as former Secretary-General, President, and current Past President of the IGU, and will address the impact of the long-standing IGU flagship project during the IYGU time span for the world of science and its engagement for a safer world. The global community of geographers is invited to participate in the high-profile online event.
