The American Association of Geographers’ annual meeting will be fully virtual in 2021. Attendees including geographers, GIS specialists, environmental scientists, and other leaders will share and discuss the latest in research and applications in geography, sustainability, and GIScience. The meeting will be held from Wednesday, April 7 – Sunday, April 11, and will feature more than 6,900 presentations, posters, workshops, and field trips by leading scholars, experts, and researchers.

This conference is quite possibly the largest geography meeting in the world, with more than 8,500 geographers converging from the U.S., Canada, and nearly 60 other countries in a typical year. With thousands of different papers and presentations scheduled throughout the conference, you’ll find no shortage of activities that reflect your specific interests within the field of geography.

In light of the ongoing concern about the COVID-19 pandemic and continuing restrictions nationwide on in-person meetings, a streamlined process is in place to help session and activity organizers bring their programming to the virtual environment, with the assistance of AAG staff. Our registration process was also designed for this possibility this year. If you are already presenting virtually or organizing a virtual session, nothing will change for your presentation. The shift to virtual does not affect any of our existing deadlines for registration, submissions, or session organizing.
