INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE IN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE “SPATIAL TRANSFORMATION PROCESSES IN CENTRAL EUROPE IN XXI CENTURY” in KYIV, UKRAINE

We have pleasure to invite all scientists who are interesting in research of spatial transformations in Central Europe to International conference “Spatial transformation processes in Central Europe in XXI century”.

Conference is organized by geography faculty of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv as a Visegrad Small Grant project.

Partners of the conference are: Jagiellonian University, Crakow, Poland; Matej Bel University, Banska Bystrica, Slovakia; Geographical Institute of Astronomy and Earth Sciences of Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest, Hungary; University of West Bohemia, Plzen, Czech Republic.

DESCRIPTION

The conference theme acknowledges that spatial processes are not fixed and territory development change all the time. At the end of XX – XXI century Central European countries have undergone huge social, demographic, geopolitical and geo-economic transformations, which seriously changed environmental situation. That’s requires, in particular, a geographical research and exchange of results of different schools.
International conference “Spatial transformation processes in Central Europe in XXI century” aims to summarize the results for the formation of scientific principles study of spatial transformation in Central Europe, display their characteristics.

Location: Kyiv, Ukraine

Countries: There is no limitation for any country

Length: 2 days (2 nights)

Dates: 16-17 March 2013

Participants: 30-40

Ages: no age limits

Language: English

Costs: travel costs + 30 euro participation fee. All other costs covered by Visegrad Fund and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Criteria: research should be connected to theme of the conference.

TARGET GROUP

Target group of the event is economic and human geographers of the World, whose scientific interests are connected to Central Europe. Scientists of different nations, age, experience and fields of study are welcome to the conference.

SECTIONS OF THE CONFERENCE

The main directions of work during the conference will be:
– Regional demographic, social and economic transformations in Central Europe, and the study of depressed regions;
– Urban and migration processes and transformation of space;
– Cross-border cooperation and tourism development in Central Europe;
– Changes of the “man – nature” relationship.

IMPORTANT! Sections of the conference will be refined and detailed according to received abstracts.

RESULTS AND PUBLICATIOINS

We plan to publish a book in paper and digital format and to widely distribute them throughout scientific organization and universities of Central and Eastern Europe. All experts will receive a copy of the book in two forms. Paper will also be attached in the website of
the project and university. Authors of the papers will have a possibility to make their work available in Open Access.
Participants will have a possibility to present their research and interact with experts from all Central and Eastern Europe. We expect to create a unique community of economic and human geographers of Central and Eastern Europe.

Number of participants is limited in accordance with the budget.

Deadline for application is 18 of February 2013!
